Kani
.x Age
3 ½ years
.x Breed
Gyrfalcon
.x Coloration
Most of the plumage on Kani’s body is a deep brown, somewhat like the bark of a tree. He has russet streaks within his feathers, mostly along his flanks and broad chest, giving him a more red-brown look. His feathers become paler at the tips of his powerful wings and his underbelly. Black markings dapple his whole body, from head to wings to tail. They are vaguely arrow-shaped.
Kani’s eyes are hazel in color, something flashing like cold amber depending on his mood. The texture of his eyes is hard, somewhat like flint. They become even harder depending on his mood. His beak is more of a soft golden-brown, and the upper half is tipped in black.
.x History
A long time ago, a brilliant gyrfalcon from the north danced with her mate in the skies, swooping and shrieking. The white, black-dappled female was named Jinamizi, her beloved named Wolf’s Flight, or simply “Wolf”. The two had met when they were younger, and soon Jinamizi found that she had become pregnant. The sun had risen and fallen several times before Jinamizi went into the trance of labor, laying two eggs. One never hatched, but as a ray of sunlight fell upon the larger one, a soft cry came from within it.
The powerful male was named Kani, or “anger”. He was cruel at times, shrieking at his mother in frustration when he was hungry. The time came when he was to learn to fly; he thrust his wings out and dove headlong toward the forest landscape below him, eyes gleaming proudly. He was invincible.
Kani left his parent since then, streaking out into the wild on his own, to hunt. Due to horrible experiences concerning other raptors—here he learned that he was to be picked on due to his innocent state of mind—he became tougher, creating a shell around him and retreating into it…
